Petitions must be submitted to the Town Clerk within 60 days of state approval.
The Town Clerk has 15 days to verify signatures and may request corrections or clarification. Petition organizers then have 5 days to resolve any outstanding issues. Additional time may be required for final review.
If the petition contains enough valid signatures, the Clerk certifies the petition.
A special recall election must be scheduled within 60 days of certification.

Colorado law requires signatures equal to 25% of the total ballots cast in the last election for each position.
The Town has not shared the official ballot count, but we estimate approximately 600 signatures per position.
To ensure success, our goal is to collect over 1,000 signatures per board member.

Mayor Don Conyac and Trustees Frank Jimenez, Raymond Byrd, Sean Doherty, and Lorna Morton are included in the petitions.

In Colorado, a recall petition cannot (at present) be completed fully online; state law requires physical signatures and certain formalities (CO Rev. Stat. § 1-12-108 (2022)).

The recall process is designed to integrate with normal government operations, so impact on town staff and daily services will be minimal. Employees will continue their regular duties, and essential services such as water, public safety, and public works will operate uninterrupted. Because the process is largely administrative, any additional recall-related tasks will be managed to avoid disruption to the community.

To sign a recall petition for a member of the Firestone Board of Trustees in Colorado, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Registered Voter: You must be an active registered elector in Firestone.

Provide Required Information: Print your full legal name, residence address (including street and number), and the date of signing the petition.

If a non-resident signs a recall petition in Colorado, their signature is considered invalid.

This recall effort is 100% volunteer-led with no outside backing or large budget. Every expense—from printing flyers to small operational costs including this very website —is covered by individuals who care about Firestone’s future. We have no general fund, so access to legal counsel and large-scale services is limited, but our commitment to lifting local voices remains strong.
If the petition effort succeeds, the recall election will be administered and funded by the town, as required by law.
